KINGSTON – There’s still a month to go in the United Way Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington annual campaign, but donors have already broken through the $2-million mark.
A release from the United Way said the campaign reached the mark a full week earlier than last year, a record for the organization.
To date, $2,013,943 has been raised, representing 59% of the $3,418,000 goal announced at the campaign kick-off on Sept. 10.
“Thank you to our many dedicated volunteers and supporters in the KFL&A area,” United Way president and CEO, Bhavana Varma, said in a news release.
“With 41% to go, individual donors and workplaces are encouraged to report their results and send their donations to United Way.”
The 2013 campaign will wrap up on Nov. 29 with a Touchdown Breakfast at the Ambassador Conference Resort. For information or to donate, go online to www.unitedwaykfla.ca.
Last year, United Way-funded programs helped 85,000 people in the community.
