United Way offers Workshop to Non-Profits on Building Community within the Workplace
Part of Professional Development Series for Staff, Volunteers and Board Members of Non-Profit Organizations
KINGSTON, ON / May 6, 2013 – United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) is hosting a workshop on Building Community within the Workplace on Wednesday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Ongwanada Auditorium, 191 Portsmouth Avenue.
Facilitator Christie Andrus, founder of The Human Factor and long-time volunteer with United Way, will delve into recruiting and building a positive workplace for not-for-profit organizations, through mentoring, leadership and a mutually supportive culture. Whether staff is on short-term contracts, or have been with an organization for years, they carry with them a great impression of their organization.
Christie’s unique view as a senior business consultant and former professor offers distinct insights that are of benefit to progressive organizations wanting to leverage the strengths of their people.
In this session, participants will learn:
- How to get and keep great people in their workplace
- Learn about what really motivates people to do great work
- Share and build on others’ ideas of how to create a people friendly culture for the workplace
This workshop is open to staff, volunteers and board members from non-profit organizations in the region. The cost for this workshop is $30 per person and includes light refreshments. Registration is required. The registration deadline is Friday, May 17, 2013.
