United Way offers Workshop on Roles and Responsibilities of the Board
Board Governance Workshop for Board Members and Senior Administrators of Non-Profit Organizations
United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) is hosting an introductory workshop on the roles and responsibilities of the board on Wednesday, April 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ongwanada Auditorium, 191 Portsmouth Avenue.
Facilitator Bhavana Varma, President & CEO of United Way KFL&A, will provide a basic understanding of what is required for strong board governance. This is an essential workshop for first time directors and directors and staff looking for a refresher.
At the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Define the role of your board
- Identify the board model that works best for your organization
- Identify and describe five primary board responsibilities
- Understand the roles of the Board and Executive Director/CEO
This workshop is open to board members and senior administrators from any non-profit organizations in the region. The cost for this workshop is $25 per person or $100 special group rate for organizations with 5 or 6 registrants (maximum of 6 per organization). Registration is required. The registration deadline is Monday, April 15, 2013.
