United Way offers Workshop on Improving Workplace Relationships
Professional Development Series
KINGSTON, ON / September 3, 2013 – United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) is hosting a workshop for non-profit organizations on Improving Workplace Relationships on Tuesday, September 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Family and Children’s Services, Room 100, 817 Division Street. This workshop is facilitated by Shawn Quiqley and Judy Tetlow, Intervention Specialists with the Youth Diversion Program.
“In every workplace, conflict is inevitable,” says Shawn Quigley. “How this conflict is addressed can have a lasting impact on relationships and the overall climate of the workplace. This workshop will explore the role our perception has in the conflict process.”
Participants will also examine conflict through the “restorative” approach versus the “retributive” approach. The restorative process helps individuals to acknowledge responsibility for negative behaviour, strives to mend the harm caused and provides meaningful, positive outcomes. It has been proven that the restorative approach is more likely to instill a sense of empathy and understanding in all individuals impacted by the conflict.
This workshop is limited to board members and staff at not-for-profit organizations. To register, download the registration form at www.unitedwaykfla.ca and return to the United Way by email to uway@unitedwaykfla.ca, fax to 613-542-1379 or mail to United Way, 417 Bagot Street, Kingston, Ontario K7K 3C1.
