United Way Next Gen Hosts First Annual HopScotch on May 19
More than one dozen brewers and distillers to take part in first annual event
Tickets are now on sale for the First Annual HopScotch Kingston. HopScotch, sponsored by Empire Life, is a celebration of local and independent beer, whisky and
live entertainment.
HopScotch will take place at The Grand Theatre, 218 Princess Street, Kingston. More than a dozen brewers
and distillers will be offering tasting in the second floor lounge area. Local bands will provide entertainment, presented by Assurant Solutions, in the Baby Grand Theatre.
“HopScotch is a fundraiser, organized and run by volunteers from the United Way Next Gen initiative,” says United Way President & CEO Bhavana Varma. “Next Gen is a new initiative in the KFL&A area focused on younger people, ages 25 to 40, encouraging them to get involved in the United Way. Next Gen creates opportunities for future leaders to participate in their community.”
“Our event will deliver good drink, good music and a good time to Kingston,” says Next Gen Chair Geoff Gibson. “It is the only event of its kind in the area. This will be a chance for Kingston’s future leaders to meet each other, sample fine independent beer and whisky and listen to some great local musicians. We’ll also have beer and whisky experts on hand to give tasting seminars.”
Tickets are just $20 (plus handling fee) and can be purchased at The Grand Theatre Box Office, 613-530-2050 and online at www.kingstongrand.ca. Tickets include admission to the event as well as five tasting tickets. Further tasting tickets and food can be purchased at the event.
