“Fare for Friends” raises $90K for United Way
A milestone event for the Kingston-area United Way has raised a milestone amount.
The 20th annual “Fare for Friends” was held on the grounds of CFB Kingston’s Vimy Officers Mess.
It featured food, music, a silent auction and more.
The event raised just over 90 thousand dollars to unofficially kick off the United Way’s fall fundraising campaign.
That’s a 19 percent increase from last year.
Fare For Friends is the United Way’s single largest fundraiser.
Bhavana Varma:
“And it kind of is the start of our campaign. We launch our campaign on Tuesday morning with a breakfast and this is just a pre-event before actually formally launching. So, it’s a fun event, it’s my favourite event of the year – it’s got good food, some good music, some great volunteers – doesn’t get any better.”
