Empire Life Celebration BBQ with Karaoke sing-off

What:  Empire Life United Way Celebration BBQ

When:  Friday October 12, 2012 at NOON

Where:  Empire Life back parking lot on Ontario and Johnson Streets

Empire Life wraps up their annual United Way campaign today with a touchdown BBQ in the back parking lot at noon.

Campaign Co-chairs Luke Woolliscroft and Sheila Karras will announce how much the Empire Life employees have raised for United Way so far.

The Co-chairs will also present the winners of the divisional challenge event – the two departments with the highest percentage of pledges will see their senior managers going head-to-head in a karaoke sing-off to a modified version of The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer”.

Speakers include Les Herr, Empire Life President and CEO, and Bhavana Varma, United Way President.

United Way of KFL&A would like to acknowledge this traditional territory’s longer existence and its significance for the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live on Turtle Island.

We are situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat land. There are Métis and other non-status First People from many Indigenous Nations present in our community today. This acknowledgement symbolizes the United Way KFL&A’s first step, of many, along this path toward Indigenous reconciliation, in a respectful manner.
