United Way Volunteer Centre Highlights Volunteerism in KFL&A
Kingston, ON (March 12, 2013) As part of National Volunteer Week, April 21st through 27th, the spot light will shine on dedicated individuals including youth, families and groups, in celebration of their significant contribution to the community through volunteerism.
Volunteers will get the chance to take a well-deserved bow, with awards being handed out at a special Breakfast event on Friday, April 19th, 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the K-Rock Centre, 1 The Tragically Hip Way, Kingston.
Celebrated Canadian philanthropist and media personality, Craig Kielburger, will be the featured speaker of the morning. At the young age of 12, Craig began volunteering in his home town of Thornhill, Ontario. Now, a sought-after speaker around the world, Kielburger is the founder of Free the Children. Following the Volunteer Breakfast, Kielburger will be speaking to high school students from both local school boards.
The keynote speaker and volunteer awards in KFL&A are sponsored by Investors Group. This year’s breakfast event is also sponsored by the K-Rock Centre, Bell and Rogers Radio Group.
“We are delighted to bring Craig to Kingston,” says Jacquie Costron, a member of the Volunteer Centre Advisory Committee. “Craig is a powerful speaker who will remind volunteers of the difference they make in our community. We believe that he will also inspire others to become more involved in the community and to embark on new volunteer endeavours.”
