We Can Be Heroes, Just for One Night
United Way serving KFL&A Volunteer Awards and Appreciation

It went by faster than a speeding bullet. It was able to leap over the $3-million mark for the first time in KFL&A history. Was it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it was Campaign 2010. It took a super-heroic effort from everyone in our community to stage the region’s first-ever $3-million United Way fundraising campaign. And we’ll all celebrate that effort with our Campaign 2010 Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Night.

Join United Way volunteers and staff on Monday, April 4th at the brand new Marriott Residence Inn on the shores of Lake Ontario as they look back on the highlights of a truly super campaign.

Come dressed as your favourite super hero, enjoy a delicious dinner and reflect on all the unforgettable moments of your most heroic campaign yet.

The celebration will include an original song composed and performed by local performer Tim Aylesworth, a superhero trivia quiz, best costume prize and door prizes. Find out who will receive the award in memory of G. This award goes to a volunteer who demonstrates true passion and caring.

New awards this year will include the Achievement awards that recognize workplace campaigns that raised $250,000+ (Keystone) and $50,000+(Sandstone), $100,000+(Limestone) and $25,000+ (Cornerstone). The Britton Smith Foundation Leadership Awards will be awarded to 15 organizations who have more than 15 Leaders of the Way (donors who give $1000+)

The United Way will also use the community’s superpowers to peer into the future as we end months of suspense and introduce the next campaign chair. Who will it be?

United Way serving KFL&A – Established in 1941, United Way serving KFL&A has worked to strengthen lives by bringing together the financial resources of the community – business, labour, individuals and government – in support of a network of 51 social service and health agencies. Through these agencies and there programs, people found help and in many cases, opportunity for a better life. Over 74,000 people in KFL&A received help from a United Way funded service last year.
