Novelis Volunteers To Update Youth Shelter Kitchen
Novelis aims to unite globally and impact locally during its companywide month of service
Novelis, the global leader in rolled aluminum products and recycling, will be impacting the Kingston community this month as part of the company’s global month of service. As Novelis is planning large-scale volunteer projects in all major locations, the United Way KFL&A has helped Novelis identify a local project in the Kingston community. With Novelis’ support,,the Kingston Youth Shelter, a United Way funded agency, will receive a makeover in October 2012.
Volunteers from Novelis will spend the week of October 15-19 refurbishing the kitchen and installing new equipment, cabinets, cupboards, counters, fixtures and backsplashes. In addition to the kitchen renovation, the volunteers will also upgrade the back patio by adding a fence, lighting, landscaping and new furniture.
Audethy Tallack, the Novelis Neighbour Site Champion for Kingston, says “Novelis takes great pride in being a good neighbor and giving back to the communities in which we work and raise our families. We look forward to our upcoming volunteer project in partnership with United Way and Kingston Youth Shelter.”
The Kingston Youth Shelter has been a United Way KFL&A member agency since 2007. “Our partnership with the United Way is critical to the operation of the shelter and we are very grateful that they were able to connect us with Novelis so that we could partner on this project,” Jason Beaubiah, Director at the shelter says. “In addition to providing youth with a safe shelter, we strive to teach them daily life skills to help them live independently. The kitchen plays a key role in those lessons.”
