Cineplex Odeon Hosting All-night Movie Marathon for High School Students
Cineplex Odeon Gardiners Road Cinemas is teaming up with United Way KFL&A to host the ninth annual Starlight Film Festival on Friday, Nov. 2, from 12:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 3. Cineplex Odeon Gardiners Road Cinemas will exclusively welcome high school students ages 13 to 19 for this special event. All proceeds from the event will help support the 2012 United Way campaign.
“Cineplex is delighted to once again host the Starlight Film Festival,” said Cineplex Odeon Gardiners Road Cinemas General Manager, Jason Benway. “Last year, over 600 high school students attended the sold out event and packed our theatre for a fun night of movie marathons and we look forward to doing it again this year.”
With an admittance price of $20 per ticket, the event will feature five movies and include coupons for a free hotdog, unlimited fountain pop, popcorn and arcade games. The movie list is comprised of recent Hollywood hits including 21 Jump Street, Chernobyl Diaries, Mission Impossible 4 – Ghost Protocol, The Amazing Spider Man and We bought A Zoo. Tickets can be purchased at participating Limestone District School Board high schools, Cineplex Odeon Gardiners Road Cinemas and the United Way office.
“The Starlight Film Festival is a fun and unique way for teens to get out and support the community,” said Bhavana Varma United Way President & CEO. “Thanks to the generosity of Cineplex Odeon Gardiners Road, youth in KFL&A will benefit from this opportunity.”
The Starlight Film Festival will be supervised by adult volunteers and police officers. Guests attending the event will require photo identification (student card) or proof of high school status. Admission will be from 12:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Students under 18 years of age must remain inside until 6:30 a.m. If a student decides to leave before the completion of the event, a supervisor on duty will contact parents and arrange for safe transportation.
