United Way KFL&A is a finalist for 2012 Voluntary Sector Reporting Award
The finalists have been announced in Ontario’s award program for best charity annual reports – the Voluntary Sector Reporting Awards (VSRAs). The United Way KFL&A is a finalist for an award in the category of Total revenues from over $1 million to $10 million. The winners will be announced at the VSRA awards luncheon on February 15, 2013, in Toronto.
In 2011 United Way KFL&A was a co-winner for the award in the category of Total revenues from over $1 million to $10 million along with DeafBlind Ontario Services, Newmarket.
“It’s an honour to be a finalist for this award for a second year in a row,” says United Way KFL&A President & CEO, Bhavana Varma. “Like most not for profits, our Board of Directors and staff take our financial reporting and transparency seriously in order to maintain the trust of the donors in our community. We are thrilled that our efforts are being acknowledged.”
The VSRA’s recognize Ontario’s best charity annual reports. The awards, now in their fifth year, are open to registered charities that produce annual reports in Ontario and were created by the CA-Queen’s Centre for Governance in Partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and Sponsored by PwC.
In a news release announcing the finalists, Brian Leader, Vice President of Learning at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario says “It has never been more important for not-for-profit organizations to show that they are being efficient and effective in meeting their missions. Strategically, clear and comprehensive financial reporting is one of the best ways to let donors, prospective donors and volunteers know that this is the case. The Voluntary Sector Reporting Awards helps to highlight the achievements of those worthy charities.”
More than 100 charities were nominated from across Ontario in five categories. The United Way KFL&A is one of 14 finalists. More information about the VSRAs is available online at the CA-Queen’s Centre for Governance website – www.annualreportaward.ca.
