The Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association was presented with a $16,000 cheque Feb. 11, courtesy of the United Way and the City of Kingston. The money will go to support the organization’s new Pre-Employment Support Program, which aims to improve the basic work skills and behaviours of clients with mental illness by focusing on aspects such as social integration, volunteer participation and job readiness. Ultimately, the program’s goal is to assist clients in achieving a good work/life balance, which is critical for those living with mental illness.
