United Way offers Financial Stewardship Workshop for non-profits
Board Governance Workshop for Board Members and Senior Administrators of Non-Profit Organizations
United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) will host a workshop on Financial Stewardship for non-profits on Tuesday, March 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ongwanada Resource Centre, Auditorium, 191 Portsmouth Avenue.
This workshop is for non-profit organizations that are all under increasing pressure to ensure financial accountability. At the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Define the oversight role of the board in maintaining fiscal responsibility
- Identify strategies for establishing a budget, monitor and control expenditures
- Read a financial statement and identify critical questions to ask
- Identify required policies and control systems
This workshop will be facilitated by Lori Huber, C.A., Partner Senior Audit Manager from KPMG. Ms. Huber has been an auditor and advisor for over 13 years working with both large and small non-profit organizations.
This workshop is open to board members and senior administrators from any non-profit organizations in the region. The cost for this workshop is $25 per person and registration is required. The registration deadline is Friday, March 15, 2013.
