United Way and CFB Kingston team up for Commando Challenge on September 14
KINGSTON, ONT. / September 12, 2013 – United Way is teaming up with CFB Kingston for the Commando Challenge on Saturday, September 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. In this high-energy team-building event, teams of ten will battle one another for bragging rights as they navigate, climb, and shoot their way through the Base’s confidence course. A combat boot trophy will be awarded to the winning team at the conclusion of the event.
Once again, this year, the Commando Challenge will have a full slate of twelve teams participating. The confirmed teams for Commando Challenge are as follows:
- Team 1 – Lori’s Flying Monkeys (Correctional Service Canada)
- Team 2 – Empire Life Commandos
- Team 3 – St. Lawrence College
- Team 4 – All Risks Insurance
- Team 5 – Naomie’s Warriors (Lemyre Family & Friends)
- Team 6 – Energizers (Union Gas Ltd)
- Team 7 – PSP (CFB Kingston Personnel Support Programs)
- Team 8 – TNT (RMCC Trauma & Technology & Friends)
- Team 9 – KPMG
- Team 10 – Nerd Alert (Queen’s University)
- Team 11 – Kingston Fire & Rescue
- Team 12 – Next Generation Rebels (United Way Next Gen)
The Commando Challenge will take place at various venues around CFB Kingston, mainly around the 600m Rifle Range and Obstacle Course. All events have been chosen to measure specific attributes, including: teamwork, stamina, strength, endurance, speed, and marksmanship.
Teams will be welcomed by the Base Commander, Col. Francois Chagnon, before they are briefed on the day’s activities. Military personnel will be assigned to each team as guides, but may not help them complete any challenge.
Spectators are welcome, but cannot get involved in the event and must stay a safe distance away from each challenge. The event will take place rain or shine.
