Part of Board Governance Series for Board Members and Executive Directors of Non-Profit Organizations
KINGSTON, ON / November 4, 2013 – United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) is hosting a workshop on Duties and Liabilities of Directors: How to Protect Yourself on Thursday November 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rideaucrest Home, 175 Rideau Street.
Workshop facilitator, Peter Tobias of Viner Kennedy Frederick Allan & Tobias LLP, will focus on why board members of non-profit organizations and charities are right to be concerned about their personal liability. At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- describe the legal structure of their organization and its constitutional documents;
- identify and describe practices to limit liability;
- identify and describe the legal duties of the Board and of individual directors.
This workshop is open to board members and executive directors from non-profit organizations in the region. The cost for this workshop is $25 per person and includes light refreshments. Registration is required. The registration deadline is Tuesday, November 12, 2013.
