United Way dollars are making a difference
Supporters of the agency were taken on a tour through Outreach St. George’s Kingston for the annual “Seeing Is Believing” tour. The event is designed to show supporters of the charity exactly where donor dollars end up. They had the opportunity to meet front line workers and recipients of services. Guests received the same lunch as clients. The City of Kingston donated a transit bus for the day to transport the participants to stops such as the Youth shelter, Canadian Hearing Society, Better Beginnings for Kingston Children and Pathways to Education.
“This is the time when people come in and see places that work and get in in some cases where they normally cannot. Places like the shelters which are not open to the public and you can really see what their money is used for and speak with the people who are spending it.”
