Leadership Challenge Grant encourages donors to give more during United Way KFL&A campaign
Generous donor challenges community members to give at Leadership level through matching grant
Kingston, ON (Sept. 17, 2020) – A generous United Way supporter is challenging area residents to give more during this year’s United Way campaign. United Way KFL&A is excited to announce the Leadership Challenge Grant. Thanks to a generous donation from Jessica Bayne Hogan, new Leadership donors can once again increase the impact of their gift.
For the second year in a row, donors who increase their donations to $1,200 or make a new $1,200 gift will see their donation matched. Donors who are already Leaders of the Way (giving $1,200 or more annually), and add at least 10% to their gift will also see their increase matched.
The Leadership Challenge Grant led to an increase of 21% in leadership donations in 2019, and Jessica wanted to continue the grant this year, especially given the challenging times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“All of us have likely at some point in the past few months felt anxious and uncertain about the future. The stresses about the long term effects that this pandemic will have on all aspects of our lives is unknown but something that we likely all contemplate frequently,” she said. “The one certainty is that we have the power to come together and tackle the upcoming challenges together. It is for this reason that I have been inspired by the amazing efforts made to date by charitable organizations, front line workers, the community and various government initiatives, to continue to support The United Way in the form of A Challenge Grant this year.”
The United Way KFL&A 2020 Campaign kicked off on Sept. 11 with the announcement of this year’s ambitious campaign goal of $2,900,000.
“The Leadership Challenge Grant and Jessica’s own leadership encourages community members to step up even more. In times of crisis, we need to come together and work to make sure immediate needs are met and the most vulnerable members of our community are taken care of,” said 2020 Campaign Chair and Kingston Police Chief Antje McNeely. “We are asking people to continue to show their local love, continue investing in their community if they can and, if possible, to consider increasing their gift.”
The 12-week campaign wraps up on November 26, 2020. For more information and updates visit www.unitedwaykfla.ca
